Couples Therapy in Irvine, CA | Marriage & Relationship Counseling

I provide emotionally focused, culturally rooted therapy in Irvine, CA for first generation Latinas, professionals of color, and multicultural couples who feel emotionally disconnected but still deeply invested in their relationships. My work supports individuals and partners who are navigating repetitive conflict cycles, cultural guilt, attachment wounds, and the quiet fear of losing themselves in love. In a city like Irvine, where high achievement and polished success are the norm, I serve as a steady space where you can slow down, speak honestly, and feel safe bringing your whole self into the room.

I have supported clients across Southern California for years, including many who live and work throughout Irvine's master planned communities, from Woodbridge to Portola Springs, near the Irvine Spectrum, or within the fast paced professional ecosystem shaped by tech, healthcare, and UC Irvine. Irvine carries a particular kind of pressure. It is orderly, ambitious, and highly driven. Many first generation professionals here are balancing career advancement, family expectations, and multicultural identity while trying to maintain a relationship that feels connected rather than transactional. The external stability can make internal disconnection even harder to name.

Couples and individuals in Irvine often reach out after realizing that communication tools alone are not enough. They are not looking for surface level strategies. They want emotional safety. They want to stop shrinking to keep the peace or exploding because they feel unseen. They choose this work because it honors culture without weaponizing it, challenges patterns without shaming them, and helps love feel like home instead of survival

You may be holding everything together on the outside, work near Spectrum, family routines, busy weeks around UCI, but at home the conversations feel tense, distant, or unfinished. When connection starts feeling harder than it should, couple therapy near you can offer a place to slow down without pretending everything is fine.

Clients often come in feeling exhausted from repeating the same cycle and leave with more breathing room. The shift is not always dramatic at first. Sometimes it starts with feeling heard, less defensive, and more able to say what has been sitting underneath the frustration.

Sessions often explore the moments where communication breaks, how trust has been affected, what intimacy needs now, and how both of you can feel safer in the relationship. The work supports something more sustainable, especially when life already asks so much from you.

Individual Therapy

You may be moving through full days around Spectrum, UCI, work, family, and expectations that make it hard to hear your own needs clearly. Maybe you are the one everyone counts on, but privately you feel unseen, emotionally tired, or unsure how to stop shrinking in your relationships.

Many clients begin to feel relief when they no longer have to explain away their guilt, self-doubt, or fear of disappointing others. With individual therapy near you, there can be more clarity, more self-trust, and a safer way to reconnect with your own voice.

Sessions often explore relationship patterns, family expectations, cultural pressure, boundaries, past hurts, and the parts of you that learned to stay quiet to keep the peace. The work is about feeling more grounded in yourself, not becoming someone else.

Anxiety Therapy

You may be moving through packed days around Spectrum, UCI, work, family expectations, and constant decisions while feeling like your mind never really shuts off. Even when things look organized from the outside, inside you may feel tense, restless, or always bracing for what could go wrong.

Many clients begin to feel relief when they no longer have to manage anxiety alone or pretend it is just "being productive." With anxiety therapy near you, there can be more clarity, more calm in your body, and a safer way to understand what your stress has been trying to carry.

Sessions often explore overthinking, pressure to perform, relationship stress, family expectations, sleep struggles, and the patterns that keep your nervous system on high alert. The work supports a life that feels more steady, spacious, and sustainable.

Premarital Counseling

You may be planning a future together while juggling careers, family expectations, life near Spectrum, busy weeks around UCI, and all the decisions that come before marriage. Even when the relationship feels strong, it can be hard to slow down and talk honestly about what life together will actually require.

Many clients feel relief when important conversations become clearer instead of heavier. With premarital counseling near you, couples often gain more confidence, emotional safety, and a shared sense of direction before stepping into marriage.

Sessions often explore communication, conflict, family dynamics, finances, intimacy, expectations, trust, culture, values, and the kind of partnership you want to build. The work supports a marriage that feels intentional, grounded, and sustainable from the beginning.

Grief Counseling

You may be walking through polished office parks, packed school calendars, and busy days near Spectrum while carrying a loss that does not match the pace around you. People may see you functioning, but not the way grief changes your mornings, your focus, or the quiet moments after everyone else has gone home.

Support can bring relief by giving your loss a place to exist without needing to make it neat. With grief counseling near you, clients often begin to feel less pressured to "be okay" and more able to understand the sadness, anger, guilt, or numbness that can come in waves.

Sessions may explore what life feels like after the loss, how your routines have changed, what memories feel tender or unfinished, and how to stay connected to what mattered while slowly finding steadier ground.

Immigration evaluations

Immigration Evaluations are for individuals and families in Irvine, CA who need a culturally-responsive mental health evaluation to support their immigration case. You may be applying for asylum, a hardship waiver, VAWA, or other immigration relief and feel overwhelmed by the emotional weight of your story. If you are searching for immigration evaluations near you, this space provides clarity, professionalism, and emotional safety during a vulnerable process.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I use insurance for therapy?

I am currently an out-of-network provider. However, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Many PPO plans offer partial reimbursement checks with your provider to confirm your benefits.

  • Do you offer a sliding scale?

Yes! I offer two sliding scale spots for clients with financial need. If cost is a concern, please reach out. I'm happy to discuss options during your consultation.

  • What does the therapy process look like?

We start with an intake session to explore your relationship history, communication patterns, and goals. From there, we’ll meet regularly to uncover deeper emotional patterns, build new tools for connection, and work toward the relationship you want to create. Therapy is always tailored to your unique story and pace.

  • What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

Life happens! I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or reschedules. Sessions canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice may be subject to the full session fee. No-shows or missed appointments without prior notice will be charged the full session rate, as that time is reserved specifically for you.

  • How does virtual therapy work?

Sessions are held through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You’ll receive a private link before each session. All you need is a quiet and confidential space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone.

  • What if I don’t feel like we’re a good fit?

It’s completely normal to wonder if therapy is the right match for you. Building trust and feeling comfortable with your therapist is essential for meaningful growth. If at any point you feel unsure about our connection or approach, please let me know. We can talk openly about it and decide together whether to adjust our work or explore other options. Your comfort and progress are my top priorities, and I’m here to support you every step of the way whether that means continuing together or helping you find the best path forward.
